I took this photo in October last year while in a vehicle returning from the town of Hong, two hours outside Yola, the capital of Adamawa state, one of three affected by the insurgency of the dreaded Boko Haram.
On my journey, I spoke to families who had spent weeks in the bush eating raw food off unknown plantations, sleeping in the hills and constantly on the run, with no time to mourn their lost ones. I decided to return to the North East to document the road to redemption.
This project is a fulfilment of that promise.
UPDATE: The guys at cMapIt Hub are through their GIS for Social Impact project, collaborating with me to map my journey around Maiduguri, Potiskum, Damaturu, Yola and other smaller towns and villages around them, using geoinformatics datasets.
